Lyme Disease; Like Having Termites in Your House!

May is Lyme Disease Awareness month! Having Lyme disease is much like having termites in the walls of your house. You can kill the termites (Lyme bacteria), with toxic chemicals (antibiotics), but it does nothing to repair the damage already done to the wood of your house (body), and now your house (body) will make you sicker from the poisons used to kill the termites.

Any stiff wind can further damage your now weakened house. Any new challenge to your dis-eased body will create symptoms.

Simply killing the bacteria, and even detoxing, while good, does nothing to repair the damage they and any aggressive treatments caused in your body.

People come to the Hansa Center from all over the world. They are damaged often in ways that can seem to be beyond repair from the illness, and the previous aggressive treatments.

At the Hansa Center, we do not specialize in the treatment of diseases, such as Lyme disease. We are never saying thus saith me you have Lyme bacteria and we are going to give you such and such remedy and kill the bugs for your body. We specialize in facilitating the restoration of what can be restored.

Our treatment philosophy goes way beyond simply "establishing balance" or "achieving homeostasis." When a person is chronically ill it is too late for homeostasis and balance...certain issues need to cranked up and specifically targeted.

We definitely do not represent here on Facebook, or anywhere else, that we can get everyone well, nor keep everyone well. We are not God, nor do we desire to play God. What we represent is what we believe is the most ideal way to facilitate the body's ability to heal and stay well, regardless of the diagnosis.

People will sometimes come to the Hansa Center for our initial two-week all-inclusive treatment package, having heard of remarkable, near-miraculous things that happen to many people, and are greatly disappointed when they leave not necessarily feeling better, or in the rare case...feeling worse. The people will then get on social media and slam the clinic and our philosophy, even though none of their previous doctors had been able to budge their case either. Nobody with Lyme disease, gets angry when their LLMD hasn't healed them with antibiotics in two years, much less two weeks!

I am not complaining here. I am striving to help everyone understand that it is not rational to base an opinion of a treatment program based on two weeks of treatment. It is not rational to think that years of illness can be reversed without ongoing care....and periodic visits to change up the treatments to keep up with the many changes that are taking place in response to the treatments.

Even a simple blister will take 4-6 weeks to completely heal to the point where you cannot see where it was...that is if you don't pick at it, get it infected, or aggravate it by doing the same activity that caused it in the first place, in which case it will take even longer to heal.

All of this to say, set realistic short term and long term goals to pace yourself in the journey toward better health.

You might be one who is blessed to see many symptoms dramatically fall away for good in the first two weeks, and yet there are some other symptoms that linger and are more stubborn. You might be one whose healing is more sluggish, but the conviction and hope that you will be well, as well as understanding that it may take a lot of time and effort will get you through.

My own wife was told by her LLMD before we met to "expect to feel horrible for at least five years, after which you might start feeling better!" I have heard variations of this from many thousands of people who have come to the Hansa Center.

Our doctors are seriously bummed out if our patients are not better in some way after every day of treatment! We don't get it every time, however we get it enough that we have learned to expect it.

What would you rather have, a doctor who sets the bar of expectation so low that he/she never really needs to perform, or one who sets the standard of expectation high and if he doesn't get it, just works that much harder to figure out your case?

We cannot make any guarantee except that we will do all we can to undo the damage and relieve the suffering to the best of our ability.

There is no arrogance in Biological Medicine, just the humbleness of knowing how limited all of us in health care are in the total scheme of things.

100% of our patients have exhausted all medical treatments. Almost 100% are chronically ill and no other doctor has been able to budge their case. Almost 100% of our patients have experienced the full gamut of huge amounts of antibiotics and show the damage, possibly permanent damage as a result. This damage may predispose them to recurrent infections and systemic problems to say the least.

Doing nothing is not a good option. Doing the same things that are not working is not a good option. Doing something different that just might make a profound difference without destroying any other part of your body in the process and giving that process a good chance to see if it will work, is always a good idea.
