Practicing Joy or Practicing Depression

I loved watching my son, as a little boy, enjoying a funny movie. When something was funny to him it didn’t seem to matter if anyone else in the family was laughing. He would literally roll on the floor in genuine, joyful, belly-laughing!

If you are like most adults, or at least like I was, I would watch the same movie and people watching with me would say, “Hey, You are not laughing!” I would smile and say, “Oh, its funny. I am laughing on the inside.” Yet, in truth, I really didn't feel a strong sensation of joy about much of anything in those days.

When looking for adult role models, there seems to be very few adults who embody an inner joyfulness. Where did our ability to really feel joy go? If you compare the energy of your negative emotions, can you generate the same intensity of energy for the positive emotions, such as joy?

Somewhere along the way to adulthood many of us have lost much of our ability to really feel genuine, high intensity joy.

All our life is practicing and perfecting the personification with which we justify ourselves to the world. I know many of you might say, “Yes, but when I was a child I acted like a child, but now that I am an adult I act like an adult and put away the things of childhood.”

I am not saying you should act “childish.” I am saying we should all practice being “Child-like.”

I met someone, and at times I too have done the same, whose entire demeanor revealed that he felt completely justified in becoming the personification of dejection and depression. He said to me, “Oh, you can ask anyone, I am usually a really joyful person! But this that and the other happened and everything went wrong.”

As his doctor, and as a human who struggles against the tide of life, of course I felt compassion for his negative life circumstances that led to his misery. Yet, since he was in my treatment room desiring a natural supplement he could take that would make him joyful again, I felt inspired to go beyond a remedy solution. Grabbing the indicated bottle off the shelf,  I said, “This remedy should help support your neurotransmitters associated with feeling joyful, however you must understand that you absolutely cannot practice the mindset and actions of a depressed person and somehow get to happiness and joy!”

Every cell in the human body shifts its chemistry to support the emotions and dominant thoughts you are choosing. You are you own pharmacy, filling every biochemical needed to depress you or every chemical to experience joy.

No pill and no drug can overpower the chemicals that the trillions of cells in your body are cranking out to support the condition you are practicing. I guarantee you that the majority of people, if given the right stimulus would completely shift their mood and thereby their chemistry. Maybe you meet a dearly loved friend whom you haven't seen in years. You instantly brighten up, and smile and hug in genuine heart-felt love and joy at seeing them. We can choose to be that joyful person or at least have joy simmering just under the surface at all times.

You cannot drive your car towards the east coast and somehow end up on the west coast. If you want to experience a genuinely, joy-filled life you must practice joyful actions. How do you practice joy? By laughing out loud, smiling, complimenting others, choosing the path that feels more joyful, playing with children, sitting up straight instead of slouching, walking tall with a spring in your step, your head up, and eyes alert. Be ready for any opportunity to be lighthearted. Practice telling only the joyful events of your life. Stop the negative self-talk. Distract yourself if you are plagued with negative feelings with music or get out of the house and interact with other joyful people. Find what activity or occupation that you can be joyful doing and pursue doing it with joy.

It was a great day when I finally accepted for myself as a real heart truth, that no one can make me feel anything. They cannot bum me out, make me happy, make me angry, make me have self-confidence, or make me frustrated. All of these things are completely up to me to choose to feel. So I set out on a mission to remain unchanged in my steadfast love and trust of God in all circumstances, and challenged myself to strive to become the personification of love and exude that to the world around me. At the very least to manifest a steady calmness within me that is able to observe life with appreciation and acceptance of what I cannot change in my circumstances. Over the years, this change has made a huge difference within me, and in my life! Not that I never feel negative emotions, but they are not who I am. They are only fleeting opportunities to go down a path in a direction I don't want to go.

Even though society and almost every movie and television program seems to encourage us, and even glamorize being gritchy, moody, and negative, and I know it is cool to fit in to the social norms, I encourage you to break away from following society's, or your peer group's example and absolutely move from being gritchy to being graceful in every life situation.

I promise you that even if you only fake joyful actions, and you do it long enough, and make it your daily practice to turn your entire personification to embody joy that every cell will be forced to produce the chemicals, hormones, neurotransmitters, and neuropeptides necessary to truly BE joyful!

You can choose now to either practice depression, practice being angry, practice being nervous, or you can choose now to practice loving all, practice being peaceful, practice being kind, practice being the embodiment and personification of all things good.

Here is the true “Stimulus plan” from this moment forward for your prosperity of body, mind, finances, relationships, and spirit… practice and walk in all ways on the joyful path and help others to do the same. I believe that God gave us the feeling of joy to be a guide to let us know when we are doing life right.

It is a process, but it is also a decision in every moment, no matter the situation, to pick higher-vibration thoughts, and think on all things lovely, joyful, peaceful, and exude these into the world around you. Your cells are listening! Empower them with your strong joyful emotions to crank out all of the biochemicals that support the feeling of joy and health will follow speedily.

Being Sick for Christmas

It is almost Christmas. Families and friends are getting together the world over to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus. Getting together with friends and family holds the potential of opening up old wounds and unforgiveness from Christmas-past.

Resentment is a form of unforgiveness.

Most people reading this are sick with long standing illness. All they want for Christmas is health, and at the very least to be loved and shown compassion. Many were desperately hoping to be healthier for this Christmas so that they would not need to pretend to be feeling good so that others who may or may not understand would not get upset. The stage is set potentially for hurt feelings and renewed resentment.

To the rest of the world, it is a season for giving. In an ideal world it is also a season of forgiving.

You cannot be your best self when you live with resentment of the illness, resentment of the detour that your life has taken, resentment of the perception that other people have undeserved health that they take for granted, resentment that you are once again stuck in bed in your room while everyone else has fun, and unforgiveness for the past offenses of the friends and family you are about to meet with this Christmas.

Unforgiveness and resentment is indeed like you drinking poison, yet expecting the other person to suffer! The only problem is that you are the one who is suffering, in body, mind, and spirit. The reality is you are letting that person's offense still affect you...you might see it as if messing with your was their goal then they are still winning!

The reality is that as much as we all would like people to act a certain way, to accept and nurture our feelings and situation, it really is not how other people need to change that determines if we are going to be stable and happy. In the same way that we know that no one can make us happy, no one can make us sad or anything else!

If we view our interactions with the more challenging people in our world as competition, when they are ugly or insensitive, you get to win the competition by holding your happiness regardless of what they do! Nothing thwarts a negatively person like someone who is unaffected by their ugliness.

Not only that but if you allow, and yes there is a moment when you allow yourself to get upset, your cellular biochemistry is cranking out the biochemicals that aggravate all of your symptoms, as well as promoting a condition where the bacteria thrive and the neurotoxins turn your body into a toxic waste dump.

This Christmas season remember, it is not how others need to change in order for us to be happy! It is not how our illness must change in order for us to be happy this Christmas and every day.

Forgiveness is not a process, it is a decision. Make the decision today, and inside every moment, to be the personification of love...to embody love...regardless of the actions and words of others, and regardless of the illness. You can be sick and be miserable, or you can be sick and love.

I am so sorry if you don't feel great this Christmas. Keep holding the faith that indeed this too shall pass! I am sending you a big hug and prayers for renewed health and that you be surrounded only with love and compassion!

Eat, Pray, Love, Change!

I just went to see the movie “Eat, Pray, Love” with my teenage daughters. I didn’t know much about the movie except that it was based upon a true story of a woman traveling the world to find peace within her self.

On the drive home with my daughters, now fifteen and seventeen, we reflected upon how much life had changed for all of us in their short life.

It seems the only reliable constant is that everything will change. We all know that everything will change, but somehow we are never ready for it when it happens.

I seem to live my life so much in the now-moment, with very little thought for the past or tomorrow, that on some level I feel like this luscious moment of post-movie bliss with my daughters in the car with me is somehow always going to be this way.

Everyday Miracles

The inspiration for this book arose from a sense of knowingness that everyone on the planet needs to be empowered with the knowledge that God’s Word is true and that the latest scientific endeavors are continually reaffirming this fact!

What I know to be true is that as my family, and others with whom we have shared this knowledge, practice the truths laid forth in this book, the miracles are stacking up. From the complete healing of my eleven-year-old daughter’s paralysis of both legs from West Nile Virus, to instantaneously fixing broken computers, printers and automobiles we are finding the “little miracles” are becoming commonplace and too numerous to recall.
Only the “bigger ones” remain in memory – although we thank God for all blessings big and small.

All of us are on a journey that has no end, but with the correct destination, the journey is empowering the farther along we go. Everyday Miracles by God’s Design is not the end all dissertations on how to experience the miraculous,“more than abundant life” promised us by God. It is a guide.

I believe the contents of this book are divinely inspired! I am not a theologian trained in hallowed halls of stone and brick. I am what the Word of God says I am…a worthy Son of God, heir to all that God is and joint-heir with Christ.

Open your mind and heart to what God is saying. I have purposely focused this book on God’s light and love. You will find no “fire and brimstone” because I want and God wants for you to operate in His “perfect love” without fear and without condemnation. If you will walk in the light as God is in the light, a tremendous miracle will happen… all fear will evaporate.

Great efforts were made to accurately interpret  throughout this book, based upon the ancient and original text of the Holy Bible, the prior usage of the words, the context of the reference, and most importantly by opening my heart and mind and simply asking God to show me and teach me His truth.

I have provided the scripture references in the body of the text so that you can immediately see that what I am saying is backed up by God’s Word in the Bible.

Each time I read this book, I am overwhelmed by thelig ht of God’s love emanating from the text. It
was never hidden, but the real “how to” of living a miracle filled life is revealed here again in God’s words.

This book is short enough to read virtually every day. I encourage you to work the concepts in this book by purposely and consciously taking it apart piece by piece and meditating on it. Integrate each aspect into every day.

What we know is that God’s Word has a mathematical and scientific precision. To leave out anything is to destroy this precision. As you practice these keys presented herein, you will find that God will develop in you a sense of “knowingness” so you can always know, beyond the ability of your five senses to know, when you are de-powering Him in your life. Cultivate this knowingness and you will know what works and what is required for you to manifest God’s power in your life.

Everyday Miracles by God’s Design is written to and for all, from no particular religious denomination or theology other than being based upon the right-use-ness (right application to righteousness) of God’s Word, referenced through The Holy Bible. It is a path that all can follow who seek to know God better. It is also a guide to reaching our highest level of spiritual achievement (the Greek word, teleioteta), meaning
“perfection,” as spoken of in Mark 6:1 -perfect love.

I am so excited for you! Read it a hundred times if necessary and be empowered with God’s light and love.

I pray that the eyes of your understanding be enlightened and that your heart be empowered with the knowledge to reach ever greater spiritual maturity as a child of God.

May God be glorified in this work.
